Melchar, brother of Telchar. From the kingdom of Nogrod. His teacher was Gamil Zirak, the Elder. He lived in the shadow of his brother, who was known as the best blacksmith and forger of weapons and armor of his race. Melchar, however, had other interests. Almost by chance, and disobeying Gamil's lessons, he discovered a powder that exploded on contact with flame. He became obsessed with fire and explosions, and dedicated his whole life to the creation of weapons and all kinds of explosive devices. He was taken for a sorcerer, madman and heretic and banished forever from the kingdom of the dwarves.
