The Irish Wolfhound is a gentle giant. The largest of the hounds, male Irish Wolfhounds are known to stand 3 feet at the shoulder and weigh upwards of 180lbs. This is a very old breed, used in Ireland before the arrival of the Romans around 400BC. They are named not because they look like wolves, but because they HUNTED wolves!
