Begun in 1980, Tourist Island was an amusement park for Iraqis on the Tigris River north of Baghdad. Once the home of restaurants, a marina, an outdoor theater and an amphitheater, it was occupied by the Iraqi Army prior to the beginning of the Iraq War... which resulted in an ex-amusement park following the fighting.
