This is the view that most people around the world would associate Soweto with shanty towns and squatters houses, and possibly with the Government built so called “match-box houses” but there is much more to Soweto. A city in its own right within the city of Johannesburg it has a population of about 1 1/2 million, comprising 1/3 of the population of Johannesburg. Due to its huge size it has a wide denographic with many suburbs, the largest hospital in Africa and many other ammenites for its citizens.
