This piece took application upon application of inks, media and water based colours on saturated heavy duty paper until the subtle background became distant and the " focus " linear reds amalgamated. It reminds me of someone hearing the words and meanings from a politicians mouth which will never come to pass, promises based upon mutual belief that a democratic decision will be adhered to when a legitimate and legal vote of future public policy has gained a majority. But in practice, however, a majority of the public are not ' elites ' with agendas and lifestyles totally out of the norm of common folk and it is they can then go on to deny a decision already made because it does not suit them. Consumerism has made us so materialistic and so image conscious that we would pay many times what an accessory or article is worth just to make sure it is from a known high end brand. A great design for someone who would want to make a comment on this problem of materialism.
