Commission T-Shirts

Just installed this fanlight in a friend's kitchen today (11.08.12). The black and white chequerboard reflects the floor tiling while the design generally speaks to the traditional leadlight in the adjacent bathroom and other elements in the period house. But the brief called for a contemporary twist, so I skewed the grid to a 45 degree angle and built in a bevel rescued from an art deco leadlight.

This work was installed in a private residence at Beecroft as a feature window to the loungeroom. It measures 80cm in diameter and was made in 2002. It conveys a sense of flying over, or into, a landscape... in one's mind. Using all my precious scraps of beautiful glass, I do feel this is one of my best works.

This is the finished work in glass that was represented by the B&W charcoal cartoon published here previously. Its a residential commission for a house in Balmain, in Sydney NSW Australia. The detail on the banksia and the hibiscus is using vitreous paints applied by hand and then fired to 600 centigrade prior to "leading up".

This one was probably the most tricky piece since the dog itself has white fur. Obviously painting a white dog on white paper wouldn’t make for much to look at so to tackle this I painted an under painting of yellows and purples over the dog firstly, giving me a tone I could work with that shows through the transparent white. This also helped me with shading some areas since all I had to do was paint the highlights and leave the underpainting as shadowed areas.

The Apex Predator of the Arborian Forests, the Greater Maned Sky Serpent is a massive winged reptilian creature that is identified by its colorful ruff mane of feathers behind its head.

Dodge City Peace Commission. A design for fans of the old west and western history. The Dodge City War was a conflict between Luke Short and the Mayor of Dodge City. Backing up Luke Short were some of his famous friends, including Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson.
