Walking down the streets of Paris is always intriguing for a photographer. So many interesting views, scenes, art, angles, lines, textures, you name it. Simple things like the repeating lines and patterns of many building facades can make for beautiful photography. This was taken somewhere on the streets of Paris. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. On a trip to Copenhagen, it is difficult not to notice the extraordinary number of bicycles that the Danes use to get to wherever they need to go. The city is remarkably bicycle-friendly with bike lanes on all the commuter routes. But what to do with them when you get there. Well, the owners of these bikes must love the flower adorned wall above the bicycle stand, and the cobble stoned street. A moment of respite at both the beginning and ending of their journeys.

A corner of Beires in La Alpujarra, Almeriense, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain.There are so many pretty corners and street scenes in the villages of La Alpujarra Almeriense that it is difficult to choose a composition to paint. I decided to paint this watercolour of a corner of Beires because I liked the backdrop of the mountains of the Sierra de Gador and the bougainvillea and jasmine climbing up walls is very typical of the villages. This corner of Calle Puerto in Ohanes is typical of the pretty street scenes in the villages of La Alpujarra Almeriense, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain which I love to paint in watercolour. Previously for these paintings I have used the traditional method of painting on Arches watercolour paper. This painting, however, is a watercolour on canvas especially primed for watercolour. I found the smooth surface of the canvas produces a greater luminosity in the pigments. Using a special fixative varnish enables the canvas to be displayed like an oil painting instead of behind a mount and glass. Winner of the FAA art contest for Women Painters, November 2023.

I tried to create a painting which conveys the charm of the historical streets of Barcelona, combining centuries-old heritage with modern life. The charming architecture of this beautiful city in my author's vision. Oil, canvas. Signed. Varnished.

Succulents

Hortichuelas is a little village just 2km inland from where I live in Las Negras on the coast. Earlier this week I walked around the village looking for rural scenes with wild flowers to paint but I found this composition in the “main street” with the flower pots and village cats and, although I do not think it is a very commercial subject, I wanted to paint it. This watercolour does not have a lot of detail and did not take me too long but I am happy with the result. If you would like to obtain it please just make me an offer to consider.
