So, this is colorway number two. This is my favourite of the two, what do you think? (Though I probably won't be able to stop at just two. Playing with the colours is the best part!) Hand drawn with graphite pencil, scanned, coloured and finished up in Photoshop. A continuation of my infatuation with doodling, florals & Moroccan patterns.

So, it is someone's birthday today. Someone super-special and beyond compare. And I have been working and thinking and trying and trying to come up with a picture worthy of her, and not really making it, I don't think. Yup, it is the birthday of the lovely artist, Ingrid Beddoes (aka Ingz.) I have created this alter ego for myself. Why, you ask? Because I _NEED_ her. Lol. She can solve most of the world's problems with bandaids, milk and cookies, she knows just what to say to make you feel better when you're down. The monster under the bed is _terrified_ of her and nightmares flee at the sound of her steps. She has superhuman powers of persuasion when it comes to broccoli, chores and bedtimes... and yet it's possible to finish your broccoli or chores, or land up in bed with the light out and _still_ know that she loves you.

I had a bit of fun today.

This was the first t-shirt / sticker I ever uploaded... of course, now I'm addicted to designing tees and have so much fun with every one I do. This is what I wrote back then: Here's a complete departure from what I normally do. (feels like I'm standing around in my underwear, really, so strange does it feel to upload a T...) Hand drawn and coloured with pencil crayon, this is a T-shirt I designed for Tane, because she asked me too. (Many times. It's been a long time coming.)

There is nothing like that magical time and place during childhood when self-consciousness is still to come, clumsiness is past, responsibility is not yet a reality and joy overflows. Working on this image of Mila takes me back there, I treasure this, because even if she doesn't realise how special this moment in her life is, I do. And watching her, the child in me enjoys that time all over again. : ) Mila, 5.

My artist's heart gets so excited every time I get my hands on a new set of pencil crayons, oil pastels, paints... even a perfectly sharp HB pencil and a sheet of clean paper. Am I the only one?

I wanted to try a different style of processing on the same subject, so this is my second raspberry still life. Still not sure which I prefer, though. Shot by Perrin (14): George and Somerset Rose, the two newest additions to the family. George is a copper eyed white Cat, now 4 months old, Somerset is a cream and white bi-colour Cat, now 3 months old. Luckily they love eachother!

Where did my tiny, curly headed blonde baby go? how can time pass so quickly? This is Perrin (13) in a favourite dress of hers, so grown up, so independant and composed, confident and articulate, talented and beautiful. I am so proud of her. post processing in photoshop CS2

For some reason my little two year old girly girl, Mila, is passionate about snails... could be the influence of her older wiser brother, Hudson, I suppose. Anyway, after every rainstorm she goes out and ransacks the garden for snails, carrying them around in bunches, or filling plastic containers with hundreds of the slimy little buggers, leaving them oozing snail slime and overflowing behind bedroom doors or under the table, for me to step on later...

Featured in Older Kids aged 8 - 16 - June 09 - Thank you so much to the hosts! Two of my sons, Jacob, 15, and Joshua, 14, were kind enough to pose for me for a competition on inspi.re themed Opposites, in black and white. The whole thing was their idea, actually, and they're quite pleased with themselves at the results (though I can tell you they gave me plenty of truly goofy shots to sort through before I got to this one!!)
