"The Mandela Effect" is a phenomenon where a large group of people share a false memory of a particular event or situation. The term was coined by Fiona Broome, who noticed that a significant number of people believed that Nelson Mandela had died in prison during the 1980s, even though he was released in 1990 and later became the President of South Africa. The Mandela Effect has since become a popular topic of discussion, with people sharing their own examples of collective false memories, such as the spelling of Berenstain Bears or the existence of a movie called Shazaam starring Sinbad.

Shazaam is a movie from 1994 that stands as one of the most popular examples of the Mandela Effect of all time. It has countless people debating the existence of a movie that others claim (even the actor himself) never existed. There has been many explanations to why people seem to remember the stand-up comedian named after a pirate starring as a genie in a '90s movie going by the name Shazaam, but none of them have deterred die hard believers. Many people still claim to remember the movie and renting it from Blockbuster. However, people were shocked to realize that the movie never existed. There were no records of Sinbad ever starring as a genie or a movie ever being released by the name of Shazaam.

His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid by fostering racial reconciliation. Ideologically an African nationalist and socialist, he served as the president of the African National Congress (ANC) party from 1991 to 1997.
