The Dunes was a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It opened on May 23, 1955, as the tenth resort on the Strip. It was initially owned by a group of businessmen from out of state, but failed to prosper under their management. It also opened at a time of decreased tourism, while the Strip was simultaneously becoming overbuilt with hotel rooms. A few months after the opening, management was taken over by the operators of the Sands resort, also on the Strip. This group failed to improve business and relinquished control less than six months later.

The building has been remodeled today and there is no casino on the property. It was also somewhat infamous for being the site of the shooting of a particular famous rap star whom I am not allowed to name here.

Barbary Coast was a hotel and casino located between the Flamingo and Bally's on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The hotel was owned by Boyd Gaming and was built by Michael Gaughan in 1979. The hotel was closed to be renamed to Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon. The Barbary Coast was home of Drai's After Hours, a restaurant nightclub that is still open to this day.

The Holiday International Casino (1977-1987) was an old school hotel and casino located at 300 North Main Street in Las Vegas Nevada. The addresses of 200 N Main Street and 300 N Main Street have occupied a few casinos over the past 40 years. It is one of the areas of Downtown Las Vegas that has a lot of history to it. What started this location’s casino history was the Holiday International Casino back in 1978 when it opened to the general public. It would be the first of three resorts at that location that is part of Fremont Street.

The hotel first opened on July 1, 1976 as The Casino, and later Bingo Palace in 1977. It officially became Palace Station in 1984. Despite recent renovations starting in 2016 completely de-theming the casino, parts of it's original railroad and palace theme still remains.

The shopping center at LV Blvd & Sahara was built in ‘59. There was a grocery store in the center. The 2440 Las Vegas Blvd address was located right across from the location of the Sahara where the now Bonanza Gift Shop stands. The circular board was built around '71 originally for Big Wheel Casino. Then later Centerfolds opened in 1975 and lasted about a year before becoming Jolly Trolley Casino. To get people interested in going there, Jolly Trolley would pass out a coupon book that was an $18 value. It included everything from a free breakfast to a free lunch to free drinks and a free phone call. These book coupons would be redeemed at the casino redemption booth. Nob Hill was a casino located on 3411 Las Vegas Blvd South, where Casino Royale currently resides on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The casino opened back in 1978, It closed in 1990, to reopen in 1993 as Casino Royale.

Coin Castle was a casino located where La Bayou is today on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino was last owned by Herb Pastor and opened on 1970. The castle-themed casino later closed in 1999 to be renovated into the La Bayou, which lasted until 2016. During it's history, people would sometimes be given personalized key rings, gambling horoscopes, free wine, and more. When the casino closed in 1999, neon letters, coins, and a statue of a king that once stood over the casino, were all donated to the Neon Museum, and can all now be seen in the main boneyard.

The El Rancho Hotel and Casino (formerly known as the Thunderbird and Silver Bird) was a hotel and casino that operated on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It originally opened on September 2, 1948, as the Navajo-themed Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was sold to Tiger Investment Company, which leased it to Major Riddle starting in 1977. Riddle renovated and expanded the resort, and renamed it as the Silver Bird, hoping to reinvigorate it. After Riddle's death in 1980, the Silver Bird was taken over by his estate. The resort closed on December 3, 1981, after an auction failed to produce a buyer on the lease. Ed Torres subsequently purchased the Silver Bird and reopened it as the El Rancho on August 31, 1982.

The Riviera opened on April 20, 1955, as the first high-rise at 9 stories, and the ninth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The Riviera Hotel was one of the oldest and well-known casino resort in Las Vegas Strip. It stopped operating in May 2015 after being bought by The Las Vegas Convention and visitors Authority which scheduled to implode the property as part of the billion-dollar project of expanding the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The settlement of Las Vegas, Nevada was founded in 1905 after the opening of a railroad that linked Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Urbanization took off in 1931 when work started on the Boulder Dam (now the Hoover Dam), bringing a huge influx of young male workers, for whom theaters and casinos were built, largely by the Mafia. Electricity from the dam also enabled the building of many new hotels along the Strip. The Treasury was a hotel and casino located on 115 E Tropicana Ave off the Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The hotel originally opened in 1973 as a Howard Johnsons. It has been the Paradise Hotel and Casino, the 20th Century, Hooters, the Pacifica and is currently the Oyo. The Landmark was a hotel and casino located in Winchester, Nevada, east of the Las Vegas Strip and across from the Las Vegas Convention Center. The resort included a 31-floor tower, inspired by the design of the Space Needle tower in Seattle. Frank Caroll, the project's original owner, purchased the property in 1961. Billionaire Howard Hughes, through Hughes Tool Company, purchased the Landmark in 1969

he El Morocco started out as a bar with slot machines on the West side of Las Vegas; when it opened in 1945 it was one of the few places where African-Americans could go to gamble in Las Vegas. This was a time when African-Americans were not allowed inside of the casinos in downtown Las Vegas or on the nascent strip. the El Morocco stood out as one club that although its history was brief was not totally forgotten by the passage of time.

The Hotel Last Frontier opened on October 30, 1942. It was the second hotel-casino resort to open on the Las Vegas Strip.The motel was mostly two stories, with some rooms on a third floor. It included 105 rooms at its opening, and an additional 100 would be added later. The property included a casino, a Western-themed Last Frontier Village, authentic Old West buildings, the Gay Nineties Bar, The Little Church of the West and the El Corral Arena, used for rodeo events. The village also featured a Texaco gas station designed by Zick & Sharp. The Silver Slipper casino was added to the village in 1950. Eventually the resort evolved into the New Frontier and then later simply the Frontier. Businessman Howard Hughes bought out the group in 1967

A neon night in the city that is known as The Entertainment Capital of the World. My painting is an attempt to show the atmosphere of Vegas on the canvas: lights, fun, entertainment, joy, enjoyment, beauty. This place has become one of the hallmarks of the United States. And this is no coincidence...

The Par-a-Dice opened in 1953, back when Fremont and Boulder Hwy were lined with motels like these. There are a few left. After Par-a-Dice was demo'ed the only thing left was a sign by the road, which dates to the late 50s.
