This image, originally captured on film in 1987, shows a solitary tree amid a snow squall. The image was captured on a road running north from London, Ontario. We had tried to drive up to our cottage that day but had to turn around as the snow squall developed. Visibility was significantly reduced, creating an otherworldly experience, something that deserved to be captured. I've always loved the look of trees in winter; their summer drapery of leaves gone to reveal their skeletal structure. But on this day, as the snow blew and stuck to the windward surfaces, it artistically defined this tree, almost as if the darkness of the tree had been etched from a white canvas. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Ottawa Intrepid was a professional soccer team based in Ottawa, Ontario that competed in the original Canadian Soccer League. They were founded as the National Capital Pioneers (also spelled National Capitals Pioneers) and played in Aylmer, Quebec in 1987, before being re-structured for 1988 as the Ottawa Intrepid and moving to Ottawa. The club ceased operations following the 1990 season.

Following an overnight snowfall, the moisture in the crisp morning air was crystallizing, leaving everything coated with ice crystals... A magical event creating a classic ‘winter wonderland’ scene! Adding to the beauty of the moment, bright sunshine streaming through the trees that line the roadside cast shadows across the snow-covered road... Our hiking group decided to spend one day on the water rather then in the bush. We were going down a curving, shallow creek through natural wetlands on our way to the big lake when I shot this picture. This was a challenge to paint but a wonderful memory.

This is an image, originally captured on slide film, of a bunch of grapes growing on the vine in our back yard. We had recently moved into the house and were eager to try our grape harvest. Knowing nothing about grapes, not even what kind of grapes these were, we decided to try our hand at wine making. Why not start with something ambitious? My brother-in-law had made wine before and had the equipment needed, so what could go wrong? We went through the process and waited for the wine to mature. It tasted, well, not quite what we expected. Anybody in the know would know that these are concord grapes, which are more suited to making grape jelly.
