Pembrokeshire T-Shirts

For a change from the obvious view of Tenby I chose to do this as a night scene, based on photos I took a couple of years back. The colourful houses are still there, but now lit by streetlamps that bring a magical quality to the whole scene. Painted in oil on a 16x12 inch board (using a lot of prussian blue)

Caldey Island sits just of the coast of South Wales not far from Tenby on the Pembrokeshire coast (and part of the Pembrokeshire national park). Take a boat from there and this is the view that greets you on arrival - a beautiful beach that is for the most time deserted as most visitors head inland. It only fills with people when they gather waiting for the last few boats back to the mainland. The traces of a track were made by an amphibious vehicle (looked like ex-military) which was parked out of view by the trees. I've painted this in oil on a 16x12 inch board, based on a photo I took on my visit there.

This was painted from an original photograph taken on holiday earlier this year. We looked down from the coastal path to ths wild little bay and just watched the sea gently kissing the rocks.

This is a view of Tenby that I've repainted over an original version I did in 2004. Why do that you may ask - well I felt I could do it a lot better now after so many years experience. I'm certainly happy with this version, and hope you enjoy it too. The view is from the path that leads to the museum, and its glimpsed through a gap, with the harbour just beneath. The painting is 14x18 inches.

There are two ways to get to Monkstone beach (near Tenby, Pembrokeshire national park, UK). From the cliff there is a long stepped path descending through woodland - something of a stairway down to beach heaven. The other is available only at low tide, and involves a walk around the corner from the sandy bay near Saundersfoot. The crux of this comes with this passage between the rocks, where you first glimpse Tenby in the background. Once you are through this part it opens up into a stunning, wide and empty beach - but that is a subject for another painting. Painted in oil on board 16x16 inches

Tenby Town Houses With Welsh Flag I just had a spare couple of hours, so I painstakingly used Photoshop to Selectively Colour the houses back in to this lovely black and white print. I have also overlaid the Welsh flag just for a different take on this lovely Town. Tenby Harbour Beach And Town Houses Tenby Harbour beach Picturesque harbour built into corner on North Beach, between the old medieval walled town and castle hill. There’s a small sandy beach tucked up under the harbour wall that’s perfect for very young children. To the south of the harbour are the lifeboat stations, the old and the new. Hire easy to sail fun boats or take a boat trip to Caldey Island. Dog restrictions apply to the whole of the harbour from 1st May to 30th September. Amroth Village And Pebble Beach This stunning, quaint, little village on the South West coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales is a gem of a find. The beach is stunning and is framed by the stones that surround the top edge of the sand. Amroth is a half mile long, flat, sandy beach. There’s a huge expanse of sand at low tide for all sorts of beach games. Rockpools can be found at the western end. There are groynes at the top of the beach. This photograph will appeal to beach and coast lovers, and all those pebbles in the foreground will make for a challenging jigsaw puzzle for those cold winter evenings. By Paul Thompson Photography

Even though the tide is out, and the boats are not bobbing about on the water, this is still a wonderful and lovely place to visit.
