Flowers are the Universe Expressing Her Joy - Heather Holland 17 Aug 2020. I wanted to say something about how happy flowers make me feel. I thought I'd make the Universe a "Her" as it creates life. Is there anything that makes you feel happier than looking at flowers growing and blooming (other than chocolate that is).

This started out as a black and white drawing which I have then scanned, inverted and digitally coloured. I wanted it to look a little textured, so I made it transparent and used one of my textured patterns a background.

This is a hand pulled monoprint, upon which I have made a few subtle digital alterations to make it more vibrant.

This is a pattern I created from an original collage piece created from strips of hand pulled monoprinted paper. When I digitally copied and joined the images into a pattern, I immediately saw a medieval man with his arms outstretched at the top. Then I noticed the different face (with a moustache) in the inverted image at the bottom. I love creating patterns from original works of art - sometimes the results are very surprising. In this case the pattern is superior to the original collage, which was originally just an abstract pattern. I have not altered the original colour of the work.

Recently I made my own alcohol based inks and created some patterns on yupo. I have used photoshop to take one of those ink patterns and have copied and pasted it and rotated it to make this pattern using it 4 times.

This is just a little fun tangle for the gardeners and garden gnome lovers out there in the ether. My partner loathes garden gnomes with a passion and was horrified when he saw me doodling this, so I finished it (naturally). We just moved house and the previous owners left us a garden full of gnomes and ornaments, most of which are still in place for now (although I have had to hide the sledge hammer). Anyway hope you like my friendly little gnome - the perfect gift for anyone with a garden full of them. This item was created using a gelli plate, a lino cut and then hand drawn ink overlay.

I was doing a mixed media piece of work with faint fish images on it with sections of gold and silver acrylic. Half way through I decided to photograph it and as it was a dull day I used a flash. The resulting images looked like this and were absolutely nothing like the painting. I am assuming it was something to do with the flash and reflective nature of the gold and silver paint, but I was so taken with the “happy accident” that resulted that I decided to use them as Red Bubble images. On Red Bubble is the only way they could be sold as the original looks nothing like these photos (unfortunately). This is a close up section of the painting.

Three Cosmic Birds was originally a hand pulled monoprint printed onto fine white fabric. This image is one that I have digitally altered from my original print in order to offer some different colour variations of the original image.
