Description: Sputnik 1 was the first artificial Earth satellite.[6] The Soviet Union launched it into an elliptical low Earth orbit on 4 October 1957, orbiting for three weeks before its batteries died, then silently for two more months before falling back into the atmosphere. It was a 58 cm (23 in) diameter polished metal sphere, with four external radio antennas to broadcast radio pulses. Its radio signal was easily detectable even by radio amateurs,[7] and the 65° inclination and duration of its orbit made its flight path cover virtually the entire inhabited Earth. This surprise success precipitated the American Sputnik crisis and triggered the Space Race, a part of the Cold War.
Description: This design comes from a Soviet propaganda poster from 1961, originally by Soviet graphic artists Oleg Dmitrievich Maslyakov (О. Д. Масляков) and Efim Semyonovich Tsvik (Е. С. Цвик) and published by the (confusingly named) publisher Soviet Artist. The text on the design reads: "6 August 1961" and the text at the bottom reads: "I dedicate my flight to you, XXII Party Congress! Cosmonaut Major Titov" which comes from his preflight statement. On 6 August 1961, Cosmonaut Gherman Titov's Vostok 2 was the second successful human orbital mission in history, following Yuri Gagarin's Vostok 1 four months earlier. Description: Lunokhod 2 (Russian: Луноход-2, moon walker) was the second of two unmanned lunar rovers landed on the Moon by the Soviet Union as part of the Lunokhod programme. The Luna 21 spacecraft landed on the Moon and deployed the second Soviet lunar rover (Lunokhod 2) in January 1973.[1] The primary objectives of the mission were to collect images of the lunar surface, examine ambient light levels to determine the feasibility of astronomical observations from the Moon, perform laser ranging experiments from Earth, observe solar X-rays, measure local magnetic fields, and study the soil mechanics of the lunar surface material.(Wikipedia)

Featuring bold Cyrillic typography that reads "Soviet Lunar Program," this vintage-inspired design captures the heroic aesthetic of 1970s Soviet space mission pins. Description: CCCP Luna 2 1959 - Luna 2 (E-1A series) or Lunik 2 (Russian: Луна 2) was the sixth of the Soviet Union's Luna programme spacecraft launched to the Moon. It was the first spacecraft to reach the surface of the Moon, and the first human-made object to make contact with another celestial body. On September 13, 1959, it hit the Moon's surface east of Mare Imbrium near the craters Aristides, Archimedes, and Autolycus.[2] (Source : Wikipedia)
Description: Laika (Russian: Лайка; c. 1954 – 3 November 1957) was a Soviet space dog who became one of the first animals in space, and the first animal to orbit the Earth. Laika, a stray mongrel from the streets of Moscow, was selected to be the occupant of the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2 that was launched into outer space on 3 November 1957. Little was known about the impact of spaceflight on living creatures at the time of Laika's mission, and the technology to de-orbit had not yet been developed, so Laika's survival was never expected. Some scientists believed humans would be unable to survive the launch or the conditions of outer space, so engineers viewed flights by animals as a necessary precursor to human missions.
