Solva Quay harbour St Brides bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales Solva is a harbour village on St Brides bay, Pembrokeshire. Nestled in the Pembrokeshire National Park, a few miles from St David’s, it boasts a bustling quay with plenty to do and a charming little village to wander around. Solva Harbour is a good example of a ria — a flooded coastal valley or inlet. Local rocks contain fossils from the Cambrian period, and the village gives its name to the Solva Group, a rock sequence. Newgale Pebble Beach Enormous! is the only way to describe this beach; it’s almost 2 miles of sand backed by a huge pebble bank formed after a BIG storm in 1859. This photo is a close up of just a small proportion of the pebbles on this huge beach front. Kitesurfing and surfing are popular on this beach and tuition is available. Walk right down to the southern end to find a walk-through cave and numerous sheltered bays. Cross the river, at the back of the pebble bank opposite the cafe at the north end to gain access to several low tide bays. Spurn Point Lighthouse And Groynes The current Spurn Point Lighthouse was established in 1895. After it was decommissioned in 1985, the lighthouse lay derelict for a number of years until it was restored in 2016. Guided tours are available through the Spurn Discovery Centre, which the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust runs. The centre also has on display a section of the former optic from the lighthouse. The current tower replaced the previous old High Lighthouse. It was originally surrounded by accommodation, but the foundations are now overgrown and barely visible. M5 Stuart Light Tank The core reason behind the development of the M5 was probably the rapidly growing demand for radial engines, which were in short supply. Therefore, other sources were approached in order to have the tank production still running in early 1941. In June, OCM 16837 authorized the installation of two Cadillac engines mated on a single crankshaft and hydramatic transmission and auxiliary transmission M3 (transfer case). Cadillac had been, indeed, rarely involved with wartime production until then. The combination of systems gave 6 speeds forward and one reverse, and a very smooth steering. Honister Pass Slate Mine Before we left for our Cumbrian holidays, this is one of the photographs that I really wanted to get. Last time we came I couldn't find a place to stop and get this shot and once you have passed the walls it would be very hard to turn around and come back. The Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria is the last working slate mine in England. Quarrying for Westmorland green slate has been taking place in the area since 1728. Apart from the mining it is also a popular tourist attraction in the Lake District National Park. This image looks it's best in a large format print, canvas or anything but it must be BIG.

Originally a timber castle, it was rebuilt in stone towards the end of the century. Dismantled (slighted) in the 17th century as a result of the English Civil War, the castle was restored in the 19th century, first by Anthony Salvin in the 1840s and then by the corporation of Newark who bought the site in 1889. Demolition Day This building was originally called Paul's Malt or just The Malt Kiln and was visible from miles away as you headed towards Louth in Lincolnshire, UK, England. It's destruction was harder than anyone could have imagined as it was constructed with reinforced concrete with steel rebar hooding it together. Who Are You Calling A Pig? On a recent visit to a local farm we found this cute fellow looking very inquisitive. Pig farming or hog farming is the raising and breeding of domestic pigs as livestock, and is a branch of animal husbandry. Pigs are farmed principally for food and skins. Pigs are amenable to many different styles of farming: intensive commercial units, commercial free range enterprises, or extensive farming. Santorini Caldera And Cruise Ships The blue sky and blue sea almost blend in together so much that you cannot tell where one starts and the other finishes. This photograph works perfectly in a frame or on a throw pillow but imagine this on a print that scales up to 72.000" x 48.250" on you living room wall.
