Clear and beautiful reflections in the water of the Kennet and Avon Canal at Aldermaston Wharf in West Berkshire, about a mile from Aldermaston village. This is the scene just above the lock which in its heyday as an industrial waterway would have been a hive of activity with boats loading and unlosding their cargoes. Here also would have been forges and stables for the towing horses. The building in the background was once a brewery.

Watercolour Paint digital image. Second Valley Jetty watercolour painting is the first painting of a series I am painting of the Fleurieu Peninsula coastline. The painting was created from a reference photo taken while staying in Second Valley on a family holiday. It is one of my favourite places to visit in South Australia as it is very peaceful and has not changed much since I had family holidays there as a child. My family and I caught many fish and squid off the jetty, found many crabs and periwinkles among the rocks and chased fish when snorkling in the water.

I took the reference photo for 'Love to be fishing' on the Altona Jetty, Melbourne. The jetty was built in the 1800s and unfortunately needs to be replaced because of its deterioration and public safety concerns. I think the weathered structure is a piece of art and contrasts well with the green waters below. I often think I would love to be fishing when walking on a jetty and wonder if there are many fish under the surface and if they are biting. It is mesmerising and calming to look at the water, watching shapes, ripples and patterns created .

Under the Jetty' five colour reduction linocut was created from a reference photo I took at Port Noarlunga Jetty, South Australia. I enjoy being under a jetty, protected from the sun with the smells of wet wood, sounds of water lapping at its posts and beach, and seeing the shadows that are created in the water from the structure. This print was a lot of work with careful colour and cutting consideration.

The Mary River, Maryborough oil painting was created from a reference photo I captured at dusk while standing on the banks of the Mary River in Maryborough, Queensland featuring an old boat tied to a weathered wharf.

Acrylic on board 18x24. Painted a few years ago from memory and left out a few structures just to change things up a bit.

Strom clouds gather over Auckland's Island Bay

Norbury Junction Norbury Junction, near the village of Norbury (Staffordshire, England) is a former canal junction on the Shropshire Union Canal, about 4 miles from the town of Newport, Shropshire. It's a pleasant place to spend an hour or two on a sunny day, watching the narrow boats go by. Amenities include the Norbury Wharf cafe and local pub 'The Junction'. Date: 14th April 2018
