The Screamroller opened in 1976 at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO. In 1983 it was converted to a stand-up coaster and the name was changed to EXT - Extreme Roller. Due to additional stress placed on the tracks from the stand-up trains, it was converted back to a sit-down coaster in 1984. However, the EXT name was retained. It would remain in this configuration until it was removed in 1988 to make way for the Timber Wolf, which opened int 1989.
