Vintage is the year the grapes were picked for the wine - all wine bottles are marked with the year - As soon as picking starts we say we are in Vintage. We usually pick by hand but occasionally the harvester comes in. - Mechanical harvesting is usually done at night so its good to show you the fruit as it finds its way into the bin. The tractor works in tandem with the harvester. The fruit is taken of the vine by the harvester, then the grapes tumble along a conveyor belt and drop into the bin pulled by the tractor in the next row.
