What good luck is this?! Of our three nights in Lake Tekapo, we were treated to pink southern skies for two of them. The aurora may not have been visibly dancing, but it was most definitely there! This is the Christchurch "Brill" tram. This is a Boon tram, built in 1921. When first in operation it needed two people to operate, but. It was converted in the 1930's so it needed only the driver and no conductor.

Mixed with milk this mushroom is an insecticide; thus it's names fly agaric, bug agaric or fly amanita.

Mount Cook with its namesake lily blooming in front of it. These lilies only bloom in November and December, and when they do, the whole valley seems to be dotted with white and gold.

The Hooker River was definitely in a rush to get as far away as possible from Mount Cook, which stands imposing at the end of the Hooker Valley. For the first half of the Hooker Valley Track, Mount Cook was hidden behind the mountain to the right, but it finally came into view here and stood tall over us for the rest of our walk.

In a country of absolutely stunning scenery, Kaikoura is a standout. The Seaward Kaikoura Range runs almost up to the Pacific Ocean itself, with only a fine barrier of black pebbles in between.

A view form the bridge at Goring on Thames, Oxfordshire, England. The church of St Thomas of Canterbury, dating from the 1100s, lies behind the mill and the millpond which feeds back into the river. Goring, in South Oxfordshire is on the north bank of the Thames directly opposite the smaller village of Streatley on Thames in Berkshire on the south bank. Here the river flows through an opening between the Chiltern Hills in the north and the North Wessex Downs in the south, known as the Goring Gap.
