Fishing Bait Tank Tops
Description: In the early '40s, C.S. (Clarence) "Turby" Turbeville and Ike Walker fished their local Texas lakes and found themselves working to improve existing lure designs to work better in their local fishing spots. After coming up with a new design altogether that proved to be highly effective, friends began requesting them, and soon after, so did local stores. Seeing the potential, these two north Texas fishermen set up in a garage in 1944, working nights making their new lures as Bomber Bait Co. In 1946, the Bomber Bait Co. was incorporated, and new machine processes were developed. A year later, Bomber was already making 1,000 lures a day – a significant output for a product that had yet to see national advertising!
Description: In Northwest Arkansas and looking for a shot at some serious trophy size fish? The 28,370-acre Beaver Lake is the first of the impoundments created in Arkansas and Missouri along the lengthy White River system, offering smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing, and striper bass fishing, not to mention plentiful supplies of crappie, bream, white bass, channel, and spoonbill catfish. Of course, it takes the right setup to land the big one, and for over five decades, Beaver Lake Bait & Tackle in Eureka Springs has hooked up local and visiting fishermen with the best bait, tackle, and competition proven advice to make the catch of a lifetime.
Description: After Vito is shot, Sonny and the rest of the Corleones are unable to make contact with Luca, but assume that this means that the brutal enforcer is already out looking for reprisal. Sonny feels confident that his father's would-be assassins will soon be dead. A traditional Sicilian Mafia message is later sent to the Corleone family: two dead fish wrapped in Brasi's bulletproof vest. The meaning is made clear to the Corleones: "Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes." Brasi's role as personal enforcer/bod But for Grandmom Stampone and all Stampones who have followed her, sleeping with the fishes is my reference to the hard work leading up to an elaborate multicourse celebration of La Vigilia (Eve in Italian), which takes place on Christmas Eve.
Description: At the age of 15, Rocky Panzo and his family moved to Chicago from Italy in 1914. Rocky began working as a commercial perch fisherman to help support the family, and eventually opened his own bait shop. Located on Chicago's famous Navy Pier, long before it would be transformed into the polished tourist attraction it is today, Rocky's Bait Shop was a favorite of both commercial fishermen and amateur anglers alike. Rocky's relic of a shack at 138 N. Streeter Dr. sat amidst the ramshackle area that made up the water’s edge for decades, providing fresh bait and, as Rocky called it, questionable advice. Eventually, Rocky's sons joined up, adding a fried seafood trailer and changing the name to Rocky and Sons Fish House in the early '60s.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of a variety of vintage fishing lures in a display case. I painted this from my inspiration, when as boy going fishing with my Grandad. He had a big tackle box full of all kinds of interesting lures. I would look in amazement at all the lure shapes and sizes, with propellers, beads, hooks and shiny objects! Bright hues and intricate details emphasize the variety of designs used in fishing gear.
