A very different Georgian style church with medieval tower and a magnificent interior, the altar piece is a copy of the Da Vinci painting of the Last Supper. Only the 15th Century tower remains of the original medical church . Between 1734 and 1744 the main body of the church was rebuilt in the Georgian classical style. It was designed by Francis Smith of Warwick and greatly influenced by James Gibbs the designer of St Martins in the Fields in Trafalgar Square. I have often admired the dramatic composition of Gainsborough's painting of Mr and Mrs Andrews (1750) in the National Gallery, so I took the liberty to change the characters. I use layers of thin transparent Winsor and Newton professional acrylics and glazes built up over a golden base colour to create a painting that has a high gloss, deep lustrous surface. The edges of the wood panel are painted and glazed to enable the artwork to be displayed with or without a frame. The painting is supplied with fittings for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.
