In the Western province of Gansu, though, I enjoyed long stretches of untouched nature, beautiful and serene like here, shortly before arriving in Xiahe.

I came across this boat as I was visiting St Mary's Island in the Mijet National Park in Croatia, The island is within a lake that is within an island. The monastery on the island dates back to the 12th century, but there is evidence of human habitation that goes back thousands of years. I love this image for its serenity and I hope you do too.
