Wax Lips orchids everywhere! Also known as Parson In The Pulpit, these native orchids are gorgeous when they form a twin set. Botanical name is Glossodia Major.

Not real Leopards - these are Leopard Orchids. Their proper name is Diuris Pardina, and they are one of the smallest of the Diuris genus. They are also one of the first to flower.

More twin Wax Lips! These lovely orchids are usually one flower to a stem, but sometimes 2 grow so close together they become twins. Their botanical name is Glossodia Major - and they are sometimes known as Parson In The Pulpit.

I don't remember how many maids a'milking there were in the famous Christmas carol, but this bunch of Milkmaids (Burchardia Umbellata) reminded me of it! These pretty flowers are common in the woodlands of Southern Australia in Spring.

After uploading a couple of rusty metallic images, I thought I might add something lighter & more colourful to break up the pattern a bit. Photographed with a Canon 400D at Lawson in the Blue Mountains of Australia. It's botanical name is Isopogon anemonifolius. Prickly Tea Tree (Leptospermum Continentale) is one of the very few Tea Trees which grow inland - most of them are coastal. This one likes open woodlands and heath. The pink flowers along the stems make a pretty picture in Spring.

This is a watercolor painting of pollinators like bees, butterflies, beetles, and flies. These pretty insects are important to nature conservation of native plants and flowers. This design is perfect for apiarists, entomology students, grandkids who love bugs, and beekeeping grandmothers!

This is another difficult plant - again one stem with white flowers along it. I was lucky to find a couple of nice specimens tangled together by the wind. Common name is Creamy Candles or properly Stackhousia Monogyna, and very common in Spring in the woodlands of Southern Australia.

This is a wattle called Prickly Moses ( Acacia Verticillata). The branches are covered with prickly thorns - so it lives up to its name! Wattles are everywhere in Spring in Victoria - their yellow or creamy flowers really light up the place after the gloom of Winter!

This is what we all care about - our environment - and what grows in it. These Donkey orchids (Diuris Sulphurea) have been missing for the last 2 years - because of the drought. If the drought becomes the norm - this could be the last time we see them. How sad would that be?

Love Creeper gets its name from it's habit of twining itself around other plants - in a loving embrace!

Trigger Plants are quite hard to photograph - they have one long slender stem, waving about in the wind, with a few pink flowers along it. These three Grass Trigger Plants had been tangled together by the wind and made a much better composition! Their proper name is Stylidium Graminifolium, and they are insectivorous.

Wild bunch of Australian proteas.

Correas are favourite flowers for a lot of people - including me! They flower in Autumn and early Winter, when there are very few flowers out. They come in green and red varieties, but are the same species - Correa Reflexa.

I think I like this stage more than the fully open waratah uploaded previously. I took this photo at night & had to work on it to get the light & colour right.
