On the Wentworth Pass track starting at the Valley of the Waters, heading past the world famous Sylvia Falls is this beautiful sight. It needed a tight angle because of the small trees obstructing the view. Recent rain made this waterfall more photogenic & the track muddy & slippery. This track leads to Vera Falls & then on to Wentworth Falls but it started to rain making it slippery & dangerous down there. The track is advertised as being for the more experienced hiker. I love the way the new growth on the ferns brings a spray of autumnal colours to the scene (in spring) .. bottom right. Hampden Bridge is a suspension bridge across the Kangaroo River, located in the town of Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, Australia. It is named after Lord Hampden, Governor of New South Wales from 1895 to 1899. Hampton Bridge was designed by Ernest Macartney de Burgh, the colony's Assistant Engineer for Bridges, to replace the decaying timber truss bridge which originally spanned the Kangaroo River. Construction began in 1895 and the bridge was opened on the 19 May 1898, just six days before floods washed the old bridge away. Sylvia Falls near the Valley of the Waters at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. This is on one of my favourite walks & the track goes around the cliff to Wentworth Falls before you climb a steep cliff to the top of the falls. My other good shots of Sylvia are portrait format. The Hooker River was definitely in a rush to get as far away as possible from Mount Cook, which stands imposing at the end of the Hooker Valley. For the first half of the Hooker Valley Track, Mount Cook was hidden behind the mountain to the right, but it finally came into view here and stood tall over us for the rest of our walk.

The magnificent Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains, this time in black & white. As much as I love colour, I thought I'd give this beauty a go in monochrome. This is the view as you approach the falls from above. After hundreds of shots of Sylvia Falls I thought I had photographed it from every angle but this view looked so nice with the ferns & orange coloured rocks that it begged to be photographed. The walking track starts from the Valley of the Waters at a place called Wentworth Falls. On route to Milford Sound there is a deep valley which is almost totally protected from the wind and 3 small lakes there reflect the scenery as in a mirror. In fact, in a couple of them one can only see the view up-side-down in the lakes as vegetation prevents the viewer seeing the actual landscape on the other side of the lakes. Our cabin for the weekend at Big River Caravan Park on the Clarence River near Grafton, NSW. That feeling of amazement when you look up and can see the Milky Way with the naked eye will never get old.

An overcast & windy day in the Blue Mountains & from the lookout over the Grose Valley at Govetts Leap you could see the wind blowing the small waterfall way off a vertical drop. There is rarely a lot of water in this waterfall but the drop is quite spectacular. There is a track down to the bottom of the falls & into the valley. It is pretty steep & often narrow. Caution is recommended. A panoramic view of the valley is below.
