My first venture out with my new camera! The dawn sky was very interesting and the heavy frost on the wooden staithes was very slippery but I was pleased with this effort.

The county of Northumberland is England's most northerly and also its least densely populated. This image was taken on a beautiful August afternoon looking west out over the moorland near Newton on the Moor towards the Simonside Hills.

Alnwick Castle in situated in the County of Northumberland in the North East of England and is pictured here reflected in the River Aln on a bright August morning with a small herd of sheep grazing on the pasture. The castle dates from 1096 and is more recently featured in the Harry Potter films.

The coastal town of Seaham Harbour is in County Durham on the north east coast of England. Once a very busy port exporting coal from the numerous mines in the area and chemicals and glass from the chemical works, it is now a much quieter area. A search of the beaches in the area still show the history of the area, with old wagon tracks and uprights visible on the less frequented beaches. Here a set of old wagon wheels sit in the sea, only visible a low tides......they stand proud against the sea, with Seaham pier and lighthouse in the background, a reminder of the history of the area.

Early March on the River Wansbeck in Northumberland and the cherry blossom is just starting to show, encouraging the bees to get to work collecting pollen; a sure sign that spring is not far away.

King Edwards Bay, Tynemouth is a Blue Flag beach in a small sandy bay sheltered by cliffs and grassy banks which makes it excellent for family outings as well as fishing and water sport. The bay is overlooked by Tynemouth Priory and Castle and is pictured here on a very calm, sunny November morning with the blue sky reflecting on the waters of the North Sea giving it an almost Mediterranean colour - if a little cooler!

The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide. The image was taken after High Tide on an Autumn morning just as the tide was retreating from the causeway making the island accessible once again.
