Peaches Tank Tops

A quote from one of my favorite poems, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," by T.S. Eliot. T.S. Eliot won the Nobel Prize in 1948, so I'm sure he'd be happy to see his words on a T-shirt. (He also wrote the poetry that became "Cats" on Broadway. Has any other Nobel Prize winner been immortalized on Broadway with people dressed as cats? I THINK NOT!)

I felt inspired to do a Rockford Peaches shirt after researching the real story behind the film for a web article. I’ve always been a fan of the Tom Hanks movie. Are you crying? There’s no crying in baseball!

Peaches Records & Tapes was a Los Angeles-based chain of record superstores, some as large as 15,000 square feet. They were known for its vast selection, with many locations in buildings the size of a typical grocery store, reportedly stocking $500,000 in inventory. Peaches were also known for in-store events with bands and artists, huge murals of the latest album covers on the side of its buildings and for selling records from fruit-crates. The first store opened on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1975 and later that year, a second was opened in Atlanta. At its peak, Peaches had 50 stores in 22 cities with over 2,000 employees. In June 1981, Peaches filed a petition for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 citing $20 million in debt.

This is a watercolor peach creation for the fruit lover in all of us.

Original 8x11in water color pen and ink on 140lbs paper. Freshly picked peaches for that cool summer wine cooler drink. A favorite of mine, a large pitcher filled with cut peaches and white wine for hot summer days.
