Description: Samhain was the old Irish festival that marked the start of Winter. Taking place on October 1 it was believed to be a time when the walls between our world and the spirit world were weak. To scare the spirits away people wore disguises, lit fires, and had loud celebrations. This eventually became our own Halloween. This design in our Celtic Festival series features the word Samhain in a Celtic font surrounding a Celtic knot made up of words associated with Samhain and Halloween.
