The Balinese is more than a long-haired Siamese cat... although not much more when it comes to appearance. They have the same wedge-shaped head, sleek muscular body, and stunning blue eyes. Cat breed historians aren't sure when the two breeds diverted, or what breed was bred with the Siamese to give the Balinese it's luscious hair, but nothing about all of that stops this from being an old, beautiful, noble breed!

There is no official record of the Birman cat's origins. The name comes from the French word for Burma where these cats are said to be companions of the temple priests on the Mount of Lugh.
