Description: 1954 Charles Dwight (Doc) Liggett, Jim Hill and Robert DeHart began packaging STP Oil Treatment in a backyard garage at night and selling it from the trunks of their cars during their business and pleasure trips. By the end of 1966, sales had climbed to more than $43 million. In 1969, STP® became a public corporation, and shares went on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol “STP”. Description: What is now known as "STP" was invented by German scientists during WWII as a response to Germany's need for lubrication of the German war-machine vehicles. WWII US Army divisions in Africa that overtook German Afrika Korps vehicles alleged that the Germans employed an engine oil that is now known as STP formulation full-strength in their air-cooled 4-cylinder engines, which successfully traveled through the hot African Desert war-front without seizing due to friction and extreme heat. How the Germans' original chemical synthesis formulation found its way to the U.S. after WWII is not known, but most likely it made that journey along with many of the other German innovations through the distribution of technology through the spoils of war.

Description: The lubricant now known as STP has its roots in World War II, when German scientists developed a high-performance engine oil to support the demanding conditions faced by the German war machine. As the German Afrika Korps fought in the harsh desert environments of North Africa, their air-cooled 4-cylinder engines relied on this formulation to withstand extreme heat and friction, ensuring uninterrupted mobility across the African front.Following the war, the exact path of STP's original chemical synthesis to the U.S. remains unknown. However, like many German technological innovations from WWII, it likely arrived through post-war technology transfers, contributing to the advancement of engine lubrication and performance-enhancing additives in
