Description: Tlaloc was an important god in Aztec religion; as supreme god of the rains, he was also by extension a god of fertility and of water. He was widely worshipped as a beneficent giver of life and sustenance, but he was also feared for his ability to send hail, thunder, and lightning, and for being the lord of the powerful element of water.
Description: This design is inspired by an illustration from the Codex Laud, depicting Tlaloc, the powerful deity of rain, storms, and agricultural fertility in Mesoamerican mythology. Tlaloc was revered as the bringer of life-giving rain that allowed crops to grow, but he was also feared for his ability to unleash thunder, lightning, and destructive storms. He is commonly recognized by his distinctive goggle-like eyes and fanged mouth, features that are central to his ancient iconography. This design reinterprets the traditional imagery while preserving the symbolic elements found in the original codex, creating a visual connection between ancient Mesoamerican mythology and a contemporary artistic interpretation.
