The Visalia Oaks began play in the California League in 1977, replacing the San Jose Bees. They have played the circuit ever since, aside from the 1993 and 1994 seasons, when the club was known as the Central Valley Rockies. In the Oaks' second season, they captured a league championship, while seven members of their starting lineup scored over 100 runs. After the 2008 season the Oaks changed their name to the Visalia Rawhide.

In Big Trouble in Little China, Jack Burton is the owner/operator of Jack Burton Trucking. His truck is named Pork-Chop Express, as he primarily hauls pigs to the slaughterhouse. It's an '85 Freightliner FLC-120 with the iconic 'mudflap girl' on the front grill, along with the words 'Haulin' Ass.'
