Description: Acheron, formerly known as LV-426, was one of three moons orbiting the gas giant Calpamos in the Zeta2 Reticuli system, 39 light years away from Earth. The moon was given its common name by the early human colonists who settled there. The main colonist base, Hadley's Hope, housed 158 people.
Description: The Atmosphere Processing Plant also known as the Atmosphere Processor is a large automated reactor capable of "converting" an unbreathable, toxic or otherwise inhospitable atmosphere into one suitable for human habitation. Atmosphere Processors are a key component of extrasolar colonization efforts. The technology was pioneered by Weyland Corp in the first half of the 21st century and was later developed and refined by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. While the conversion process is entirely automated, a constant crew is required to oversee an APP's maintenance. Often an entire colony will be established for this very purpose, such as Hadley's Hope on Acheron (LV-426).

It is one of the corporations that runs the human colonies outside the solar system through the Extrasolar Colonization Administration, has a seat in the Interstellar Commerce Commission's Company Review Board, and also has a large presence on Earth. They hold their main offices in Tokyo, San Francisco, The Sea of Tranquility, and Thedeus. Weyland-Yutani consistently exhibits the worst aspects of corporate profiteering, willing to sacrifice decency and human life in seemingly the pursuit of profit.
