Mesopotamian art, in general, was intended to make the decoration of temples and tombs, and unfortunately they could not survive for long periods. ... This type of art was represented in many different ways, including painting, architecture, crafts and literature. Their main characteristic was the absence of movement, thus constituting rigid and static sculptures. Although some sculptures were produced in stone, most of them were made in clay, which portrayed human beings, mythological beings, animals and gods frontally, either standing or sitting.

Lamassu Human-headed Winged Bull, The lamassu is a celestial being from ancient Mesopotamian religion bearing a human head, bull's body, sometimes with the horns and the ears of a bull, and wings. It appears frequently in Mesopotamian art.

Pazuzu the demon is best-known today as the primary antagonist of the Exorcist franchise. He was not always so evil, however. In the 8th century BCE, in the Neo-Assyrian Empire, Pazuzu, king of the demons and commander of wind and plague, was also the protector of pregnant and breastfeeding women. He watched over the homes of young families and warded off other demons with his ferocious appearance.

The ancient sources give some clues as to who lived in the Mesopotamian marshland and what the landscape looked like in the first millennium. Two terms are used in the written sources to refer to the marshland in southern Babylonia: agammu “marsh, swamp” and appāru “reed marsh, canebrake”. The Sealand was inhabited by Chaldeans and Aramaeans. Šūzubu (Mušēzib-Marduk), the Chaldean leader of Bīt-Dakkūri, is referred to in Sennacherib’s inscriptions as “a Chaldean who lives among the marshes (agammu)” and Bīt-Jakīn is described as the land “which is in the marshes (agammu) and canebrakes (appāru)”. She was originally worshiped in Sumer and was later worshipped by the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians under the name Ishtar. She was known as the "Queen of Heaven" and was the patron goddess of the Eanna temple at the city of Uruk.
