AUSSIE MAP THE SLAP

There is a series of small waterfalls or cascades on the Crater Lake circuit at Cradle Mountain National Park in Tasmania, Australia. This beautiful lush area was a highlight of my short trip to Tasmania in March 2010. The famous Liffey Falls near Deloraine in Tasmania framed by tree branches & toffee coloured rocks as a platform. The falls are on a fairly short walking track from the carpark. While the fireworks displays straddling the harbour bridge were larger & more impressive, the smaller displays from the harbour barge were more photogenic. Sylvia Falls near the Valley of the Waters at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. This is on one of my favourite walks & the track goes around the cliff to Wentworth Falls before you climb a steep cliff to the top of the falls. My other good shots of Sylvia are portrait format. The Botannical Gardens in Sydney have a pond of these amazing plants but they are usually too far from the edge of the pond to photograph. Taken on the National Pass track in the Blue Mountains a couple of years ago. These grasstrees are so typically Australian, so I tried to fit it into the scenery on a few shots. Kangaroo is the generic name given to a marsupial mammal belonging to five species of the genus Macropus of the family Macropodidae, which also includes wallabies. Characteristics include highly developed hind legs and the presence of a pouch (the baby carrier) present only in females, the offspring in which it completes its development. The kangaroo is the symbol of Australia, known for its jumps and the pouch that the female has for gestation.

Vineyards across the Barossa Valley outside Tanunda in South Australia

Travel the Great Ocean Road to Split Rock Lighthouse, clamber over rocks, dip in the ocean and enjoy the cafe after a tour of the lighthouse.

Observatory Point doesn't have an Observatory any more, but it does have a gorgeous sandy beach, with views of Port Phillip Bay. It's off the walking trail to Point Nepean in Southern Victoria, Australia.

These huge guns at Fort Nepean, in Victoria, Australia, were put in place to protect the entrance to Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne. They are a relic of 2 World Wars. Invading warships beware!
