Galahs are curious - like most Cockatoos. This one came to watch the Emus feeding at Healesville Sanctuary, Victoria, Australia.

A holiday trip to Darwin included an excursion to Litchfield National Park. This was July - mid Winter - but in the tropical Northern Territory it still managed 32º. The walking trail along Litchfield Gorge was rough and rocky, but was rewarded with this view of a waterfall - framed by a Pandanus.

I've posted photos of pink Common Heath (Epacris Impressa) before - but this was the best specimen I've seen! These pretty Spring flowers vary in colour from pure white, through pink to deep red. The pink variety is the State Floral Emblem of Victoria, Australia. Found at Baluk Willam reserve in Belgrave South.

Ear Sundews (Drosera Auriculata) are quite difficult to photograph, as they have a long slender stem with a single pink flower on the end. This makes it difficult to include the sticky "ears", with which they catch insects, and the flower. I was lucky to find this twisted specimen, with a vey pretty flower.

Chamaescilla Corymbosa - Blue Stars - usually appear on the first warm day of Spring. This usually happens in October. Took this little beauty on 24th Sept. on a cold, but very still day. Must be something to do with global warming! Hochkins Ridge Flora Reserve, Victoria, Australia.

Wax Lips orchids everywhere! Also known as Parson In The Pulpit, these native orchids are gorgeous when they form a twin set. Botanical name is Glossodia Major.

I had a great day out looking for Spider Orchids earlier in Spring. A Winter with decent rains has really produced lots of specimens. I was taken with this pair of Veined Spider Orchids (Caladenia Reticulata) - they appeared to be dancing!

It's taken me months to get some nice shots of Kanzi, the baby Gorilla, with his Dad Otana. Otana looks unhappy about something - and is being comforted by his son! These Western Lowland Gorillas live at Melbourne Zoo in Victoria, Australia.
