The painting is an abstract contemporary representation Landscape. The colours, wild, thick and bold brush strokes. Applied in an energetic and emotional way, vivid colours at odds with traditional realistic representation. A small bird, sail, boat, tree, brings back reality from total surface abstraction, thus giving meaning to an arbitrary choice of colours and marks on canvas which has been textured and cultivated to be at odds with reality.

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang. Signed on the front. I took the photo for the 'Peaceful Beach' oil painting when enjoying an evening walk along the Grange beach, one of the beautiful beaches of Adelaide. I was attracted to the colours when viewing the photo and decided to take up the challenge of turning the image into a painting. I named the painting 'peaceful beach' after listening to a speaker who said to imagine somewhere peaceful and I imagined my beach painting in progress.

Further east is Hengistbury Head (top left) sheltering the entrance to Christchurch harbour, and beyond (top right) you can just make out the Needles and cliffs on the Isle of Wight. A Walk On the Beach Is Good For Your soul

Sullivan Bay, Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Sullivan Bay is the site of Victoria's first white settlement back in 1803. The settlement was located on the eastern point. The two calcarenite headlands that border the 400 m long bay are known as The Sisters. A foreshore reserve backs the western half of the bay and the historic section of the eastern Sister. Houses and some private jetties are located along the eastern half of the bay. There is a public parking area just off the Nepean Highway in the centre of the bay. The beach faces north-east and receives usually low wind waves. It consists of a relatively narrow strip of sand, fronted by 100 to 200 m wide tidal sand flats.
