I was inspired by some 19th-century bird's eye view maps that I'd been looking at, some East Asian landscape art, and the fact that Happy Valley's neighborhood borders are formed more by hills than streets.

One stayed still and back a little ways while this one stopped near the edge of the dirt road and started its call which sounded like it was repeating its name...kill deer kill deer...then it would pause and listen. Description: Mourning Dove on the Wire by Debra Martz Most everyone in the US has this bird but it was just sitting there so pretty with the split white and blue background I just had to get its picture! This was near the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas....just around the corner and across the street. I usually walk over to where there is a wetland area before leaving the birding center. Didn't see anything close until I headed back to my car and saw this dove. The mourning dove, Zenaida macroura, is the most abundant and widespread dove in the birds of north America.
