Bittorrent Tapestries
Description: BitTorrent is a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing protocol designed to distribute large files efficiently across the internet without relying on a single, central server. Instead of downloading from one source, users download pieces of a file from multiple peers simultaneously, which increases speed and reduces server load.
Description: LimeWire was a peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) platform that launched with its own client in 2000. LimeWire utilized the gnutella network and BitTorrent protocol to allow users share content by uploading and downloading content through the client. LimeWire offered both a free version and a paid enhanced version called LimeWire Pro, which, somewhat ironically, could be acquired through the regular LimeWire software as paid users shared their copies of Pro with the platform. LimeWire had a solid ten-year run before a lawsuit back by music industry heavyweights resulted in the company, and it's software client, being shut down in 2010.
Description: From dial-up days to DSL dreams, LimeWire was the wild west of file sharing - music, movies, and more at your fingertips (and maybe a few viruses too). A rebellious relic of the early internet, LimeWire connected millions through decentralized p2p magic. Whether you were burning mix CDs or hunting for that rare track, LimeWire was your portal to digital freedom.
Description: Launching in 2000, LimeWire became a go-to P2P file-sharing program utilizing the gnutella and BitTorrent networks for content distribution. It featured both a standard free app and a paid LimeWire Pro upgrade—though, in a funny twist of irony, people frequently used the free version to pirate shared copies of Pro. The platform enjoyed a massive 10-year run. However, following a major legal battle spearheaded by heavyweights in the music industry, LimeWire and its software were officially discontinued in 2010.
Description: A love letter to the beautifully chaotic early internet era—when one song could take all night, 99% felt like a personal attack, and disconnecting the computer was absolutely forbidden. A distressed Y2K P2P graphic built for 2000s kids who remember LimeWire, mystery MP3 filenames, burned CDs, and the wild west of home internet.
Description: The Pirate Bay (TPB) is a prominent Swedish online index of BitTorrent files and magnet links that facilitates the sharing of digital content, including movies, music, and software. Founded in 2003, it became one of the world's largest sites for distributing copyright-infringing material, leading to significant legal action against its founders and a persistent game of "whack-a-mole" with authorities.
Description: A mountain of entertainment... provided you have a good connection. This design satirizes the "Peak TV" era where every studio has its own app. Featuring the classic mountain and star circle with a "Torrent+" twist, it’s a high-brow joke for the low-brow pirate.
