Blue Abstraction Tapestries
Description: A geometric abstract pattern composed of squares and triangles in blue, yellow, red, and green. Black lines form the geometric divisions and dashed lines create a box-like impression within some of the larger colored areas. The overall effect is fragmented and multi-dimensional.
Description: I started this mini-series back in 2016 and, honestly, didn't know what the end result would be. At the time, I was just cranking them because they were fun to do, and I completed one within a few hours. The majority of the Skulls and Buddhas series are either 4x6 or 5x7 inches. It always seemed to me that the symbolism of skulls and the Buddha (in a meditative pose) is similar. In the practice of sitting meditation, we confront the inescapable reality of impermanence, and the skull often symbolizes mortality. The simple fact that we will have to face our own last breath.
