Description: "Baba Yaga" is a well-known character from Slavic folklore. In the folk tales, Baba Yaga is portrayed as a witch who lives in a house standing on chicken legs, deep within a forest. The name "Baba Yaga" can be translated roughly. "Baba" is a somewhat pejorative term meaning "old woman" or "grandmother" in many Slavic languages. "Yaga" is less clear, but it may relate to the word for "horror," "anger," or "wickedness."
