Description: he Hull Brewing Company was established in New Haven, Connecticut in 1872 by Colonel William Hull. Shortly after it opened it was affectionately referred to as “Hull’s”. Brewing was nonstop at The Hull Brewing Company until prohibition hit in 1920. From 1920 To 1933, while most local breweries shut down, Hull’s stayed in business by producing ice and non-alcoholic malt beverages. Shortly after the repeal of prohibition in 1933, The Hull Brewing Company moved its operations to The Old Fresenius Brewery, located at 820 Congress Avenue, where it thrived. In it’s new location it ultimately became, to this day, Connecticut’s largest brewery.

Description: Quandt Brewing Co. Inc. opened in 1933 and closed in 1942 it was open for 9 years. Quandt's Brewing was active during Prohibition which makes it an oddity. Some breweries were able to stay in business by producing "near-beer" which was very low alcohol, some switched over to bottling sodas or other beverages, some became Ice-houses or other related businesses. Quandt Brewing Co. Inc. was in an active brewing city. Troy, NY was listed as having 34 breweries, which is quite a few. Sometimes a large number of breweries can lead to an active collecting community that will be willing to pay more for breweriana items than other collectors.
Description: The Dobler Brewing Company was a small regional brewery, located in Albany, New York. Dobler was once located in the largest brewing hub in the country. Before there was Anheuser-Busch, Coors, and Miller, there was J.F. Hedrick, Beverwyck Brewery, and of course Dobler. It was founded in 1865, and had an annual capacity of 25,000 barrels during its height.
Description: The Acme Brewery was incorporated on April 11, 1907, with Leopold F. Schmidt, president; William Schuldt, secretary and manager; and Jacob P. Rettenmayer as both treasurer brewmaster. The beers became a local favorite before eventually making their way out to a national audience. Acme survived prohibition like many breweries by manufacturing sodas as well as legal near beer versions of their brews, which were popular as they were easily spiked by consumers with grain alcohol to get something closer to the real thing. The brewery went on to survive two world wars before finally closing their doors in 1972 as completion from larger national breweries put the squeeze on their business.
Description: On January 1, 1893, six local breweries joined forces and opened Grand Rapids Brewing Co. Over the next two decades, they built a monumental brewery at the corner of Michigan Street and Ionia Avenue, what is now the site of a state office building. Capitalizing on the location’s ample supply of fresh spring water and a refreshingly drinkable flagship beer, Silver Foam, GRBC became one of Midwest’s largest and best-known breweries. In 1920, Prohibition brought that success story to a crashing halt. When the bans on alcohol production and sales were lifted, GRBC merged with several other breweries and eventually left town.
