Eagle Ray Tapestries
Description: Batoidea is a superorder of cartilaginous fishes, commonly known as rays. They and their close relatives, the sharks, comprise the subclass Elasmobranchii. Rays are the largest group of cartilaginous fishes, with well over 600 species in 26 families. Rays are distinguished by their flattened bodies, enlarged pectoral fins that are fused to the head, and gill slits that are placed on their ventral surfaces.
Description: A majestic manta ray gliding through the deep, rendered in cool-toned dot art with hundreds of blue, slate, lavender, and silver circles forming its wide diamond-shaped wingspan and trailing tail. This pointillism-style design is perfect for scuba divers, marine life enthusiasts, ocean lovers, and fans of elegant aquatic creatures.
Description: This is my mixed media with watercolor, acrylic and ink painting of some spotted eagle rays. This painting is part of my Florida Watercolor Collection. Three spotted eagle rays glide gracefully through a wavy, blue background, evoking a sense of movement and tranquility. Their dark bodies are covered in white speckles, creating a striking contrast against the lighter backdrop.
Description: This design features seven ray species from the superorder Batoidea, which includes stingrays and their relatives. Species include the ocellate river stingray, spotted eagle ray, eastern fiddler ray, bluspotted ribbontail ray, cownose ray, lesser electric ray, and manta ray.
