Well for Forrest Gump that may have been the case ~ but for the poor 'Sharks Worldwide' ~ their 'fate is sealed' to a life much less than ordinary... The intense 'economic pressure' placed upon 'poor fishermen' by much more 'wealthy and often affluent' bosses or 'middle-men' ~ within the Shark Finning Industry is fueling the trade of Shark Fins Worldwide. Comments made by Fisheries that Sharks are not targeted species and are merely an act of 'Bycatch' should in most instances be dismissed. Fools should not be taken likely ~ this is a TARGETED species ~ and due to the economic demand ~ most often it is the FINS to GO first off the carcass...

Competition for food between humans and cetacea - the whales, dolphins and porpoises will become more intense as population pressure increases by an ever increasing population Worldwide. We need to consider strategising to include the higher carnivores in our strategy. Selective fishing is one way, targeted species, or seasonal fishing another. Other strategies are Marine Protected Areas, especially in areas of intriguing and interesting biodiversity and where ecological niches are present which encourage spillover... I am sure there are more. The Gulf of Siam is a breeding ground for 'anchovy' and at the right time annually attracts *Bryde's whales* and associated fauna...
