The town, which included the Golden Eagle Bar, was built in 1925 and subsequently destroyed three years later by a hurricane which killed thousands of people. The small town was subsequently rebuilt, including the Golden Eagle, which continued to serve the local population along with the many agricultural workers for decades into the future.
