Today the Eye of Providence is often associated with Freemasonry, although it is originally a Christian symbol. In Freemasonry it is frequently shown with a cloud rather than a trinitarian triangle. The Eye first appeared as part of the standard iconography of the Freemasons in 1797, with the publication of Thomas Smith Webb's Freemasons Monitor. Here, it represents the all-seeing eye of God and is a reminder that humanity's thoughts and deeds are always observed by God (who is referred to in Masonry as the Great Architect of the Universe). Typically, the Masonic Eye of Providence has a semi-circular glory below it. Sometimes this Masonic Eye is enclosed by a triangle.

The Ouroboros is a Greek word meaning "tail devourer," and is one of the oldest mystical symbols in the world. The ouroboros has several meanings interwoven into it. Foremost is the symbolism of the serpent biting, devouring, or eating its own tail. This symbolizes the cyclic Nature of the Universe: creation out of destruction, Life out of Death. The ouroboros eats its own tail to sustain its life, in an eternal cycle of renewal. It is sometimes depicted in a lemniscate shape (eight figure) as well. In mythology, the Oroboros is a symbol representing the Milky Way galaxy.

An amazing mix

The horned god is one of the many names given to the male aspects of spirituality and life, and this term most often used within the tradition of Wicca. This symbol can be used to invoke the god during rituals and other magical work. The horned god is associated with the wilderness and virility. Some people also believe that it is the horned god that carries the souls of the dead to the underworld.

The unicursal hexagram is so-called because it can be drawn unicursally- that is, in one continuous movement. This is significant when forming figures in ritual magick, where a continuous line is preferred to an interrupted movement. It is classified as the third form of the hexangle and is called the "pseudo-hexagram" or "irregular third form." Its description is: "Denotes the presidency of the Sun and Moon over the Four Elements, united in, and proceeding from, the Spirit."

Derived from the Greek word "Triskeles" meaning "three legs", the Triskele or Triple Spiral is a complex ancient Celtic symbol. Often referred to by many as a Triskelion, its earliest creation dates back to the Neolithic era, as it can be seen at the entrance of Newgrange, Ireland. The Triskele gained popularity in its use within the Celtic culture from 500BC onwards. This archaic symbol is one of the most convoluted to decipher as symbolists believe it is reflective of many areas of culture from the time. Some of these connotations include: life-death-rebirth, spirit-mind-body, mother-father-child, past-present-future, power-intellect-love and creation-preservation-destruction to name but a few.

The spiraling line can be seen as the constant path of life and has been found throughout history as far back as Paleolithic times, where they were carved on tombs. The star in this symbol is used to represent the four classical elements of earth, air, water, and fire plus spirit. A circle is them placed around them to symbolize the connection and reciprocal relationship between them all. The pentacle is sometimes used on altars and in magical work to symbolize the element of earth.

The Witch's Knot can be drawn in one continuous line, meaning that one can draw the Witch Knot without ever having to pick up the pen off the paper. This makes it symbol of protection. In history, witches used knotted cords to 'tie up' the weather, to create circles of protection and to bind things magically. The vesica piscis is a world-wide symbol for the yoni, the feminine creative force that gave birth to the universe. The interlacement represents the feminine control of the forces of nature. The circle is one of the primary female symbols representing the sacred or consecrated space.

The setogram is also known as the faery or elven star. It is used within some faerie traditions but is also associated with many other magical traditions. Seven is a sacred number in many pagan traditions, and this star symbol can be used to represent different sets of seven things depending on a person's beliefs or tradition. The number three is commonly considered to relate to heaven and the higher realms while the number four relates to the earth. 3 + 4 = 7 which can be seen as heaven and earth coming together as a whole.

This was a sketch for a geometry pattern that I planed to make in Adobe Illustrator. This combination of simple geometric forms, black dots and lines and different types of triangles turned out so lovely and I thought: "Why not print it as it is, raw, simple and hand drawn?". As one of the lesser-known Viking symbols, the Web of Wyrd is a symbol in Norse mythology that represents the interconnectedness of past, present and future. According to the myth, the Web of Wyrd was woven by the Norns/Nornir, the Shapers of Destiny in Norse mythology. The symbol comprised of nine staves contains all the runes thus symbolizing all ‘the possibilities’ the past, present and future brought and might bring. It is also called ‘Skuld’s net’ as Skuld was believed to be one of the Norns that wove the web.
