Eiffel Tower Replica at Paris Hotel - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz Known as Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino located in the heart of the Strip, Las Vegas Blvd. Original plans for the Eiffel Tower called for a full-scale replica, however that would have interfered with the nearby McCarran Airport and designers therefore reduced it to approximately 1:2 scale (540 feet). The hotel is 33 stories tall. A unique architectural aspect of the Paris is that the back legs of its Eiffel Tower actually come down through the ceiling into the casino floor. You can ride to the top just as you can in Paris, France.

Yellow-rumped Warbler at Water Spout by Debra Martz While hiking a few trails at Goose Island State Park in south Texas, I crossed a paved road and noticed a few picnic tables...good time for a break. But the best part was when I neared those tables, I realized there was a watering and feeding station for birds. Shortly after sitting down, in flew this migratory Yellow-rumped Warbler. When I saw this as a larger image on my computer screen I felt it looked like a painting, therefore I added a dry brush painterly effect.

This whitetail deer, aka white-tailed deer, was just one of several that would pass through our campsite at South Llano River State Park in Texas. This state park is almost more like a wildlife refuge. We, also, had Axis deer, wild turkey, armadillos, and a large variety of small birds such as inca dove, blue buntings, painted buntings, grosbeaks and the list goes on and on. Sunrise on the Strip - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz It was a beautiful way to start the day in Las Vegas with this glorious sunrise. The tracks are around the New York New York (NYNY) hotel and casino buildings with the roller coaster that starts inside and then out through an opening in the roof, around and even upside down before returning back inside at the end. The Love Locket - Fremont Street - Las Vegas by Debra Martz The "Love Locket" is an interactive, metal heart-shaped sculpture that allows people to attach locks and other pieces of metal displaying their hopes, dreams and loves. It is located on the corner of Fremont and 7th street, in front of the Downtown Container Park. It was erected by artist Nova May, in 2013, as part of the Life is Beautiful Festival but the artist feels that her sculpture represents more than a successful festival. May says, “Every individual who took part in locking the little hearts became part of creating the piece.” Vandalism struck in January, 2016; security video footage revealed that a couple of people cut one side of the art piece loose and loaded ...

High Roller Ferris Wheel - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz What an experience to take the 30 minute ride and see all of Las Vegas and beyond! Will have to do this again if I return, but for a sunset ride. High Roller is a 550-foot tall, 520-foot diameter giant Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States of America. Each of the enclosed capsules will hold 40 people. It was our lucky day as we had a capsule all to ourselves! Great timing on our arrival because the wheel does not stop to load passengers. The door opens and you walk on as it continues to move. It is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation.

Palms Surround the Luxor - Las Vegas, Nevada by Debra Martz The Luxor is one of many beautiful hotels and casinos located on Las Vegas Blvd. The streaks in the sky are contrails from passenger jets as the hotel is very near the airport.

Beauty of an Iris By Debra Martz Saw this beautiful stand of irises and was wowed with their beauty. I can recognize an iris but when I tried to find a correct identity I was floored at the large number/varieties there are!!! I did narrow it down to beardless...about the easiest of the parts to figure out based on the images I found. Then I saw a group of Asian Irises and thought that was the ID but not. From there I discovered a variety called Iris sibirica and was pretty sure I had found it until I read it is often confused with Iris sanguinea. So yes, I'm confused. Whatever the exact ID, they are beautiful Irises to me. If you know, please feel free to drop the name in a comment. Thanks for looking

I first discovered the Rabb Plantation located south of Brownsville, Texas on a bird watching trip in February of 2016. The beautiful plantation home, restored in 2013, serves as the Visitors Center for the Sabal Palm Sanctuary. On my most recent trip there, again for birds, I discovered this beautiful fresco when (pardon me) I had to use the restroom:) A plaque on the wall gave this description of the fresco, "This room, now re-purposed as a washroom, originally opened to the kitchen and served as a pantry. During the restoration process, the fresco you see here was discovered behind wooden paneling. While not believed to be original to the house's construction in 1892, its design and style are consistent with that of the 1920s-...

Pink Bougainvillea by Debra Martz Now living in the mild climate of south Texas, I see Bougainvillea plants growing everywhere. It is, in fact, a colorful plant that is synonymous with subtropical and tropical areas around the world. The bougainvillea boasts masses of cascading colors to landscapes, walls, fences, patios and arbors. I was soon to learn that their color actually is in the form of bracts, modified leaves, that enclose its true and very small white flowers. There are so many varieties/colors that I'm not certain of the name of this one. Only that it is somewhat pinkish to peach in color. Thank you for looking at my images!

Pink Miniature Roses by Debra Martz These beauties are container grown by my Mom...she has a green thumb for sure. She amazes me with her beautiful potted plants every year. I thought these were in a wonderful natural arrangement with the buds mixed between the full blooming roses. Gardeners limited in space can enjoy all the fun of rose growing by cultivating miniature roses in containers. They also adapt well to flowerbed edging, front-of-the-border socializing with perennials and annuals, and low hedges. Rosas

Seashell on the Beach by Debra Martz It was a beautiful day for a walk on the beach. This shell had just freshly washed ashore. A close look with the zoom and you can see the bubbles of water on it. A beach walk is never the same even if you are covering the same area over and over. Some days there are many shells and some days only a few. This day walk was at the Mustang Island State Park located between Port Aransas and North Padre Island, Texas, along the Gulf of Mexico.

Sundial Seashells by Debra Martz This is a macro image of part of my seashell collection. Living near the beach allows my to collected as often as I like. But here on the coast of South Texas shell collecting is much better during winter months. I'm not sure why; possibly a change in the currents bring in different varieties and many of them. Sundials, the spiralling one on the top, is always a favorite of mine to find. They are perfect just rinsed, dried and placed in a decorative dish (providing the snail is no longer inside). Great for coastal living decor.

Nita Beer Sign with White Frame by Debra Martz Several times a year I travel through Mineral Wells, Texas and always get a "kick" out of this "Nita Beer" sign. So finally I stopped for a picture of it. There were a lot of power lines all around the sign so I did away with those by adding a solid white vignette to frame it. Also available with a black vignette/frame.
