Above Plaka, Milos' capital, on the way to Kastro, the old castle of the island, you can enjoy on of the most spectacular sunsets of the Aegean. You can also see the remains of the old castle and three beautiful churches. The one to the left, is Panagia Thalassitra (1738) and a bit more to the right is the tiny church of Panagia Eleousa. On the top of the castle you can also visit another church, Mesa Panagia or "Skinitiossa". In the photo, you can see the entrance of one of the largest natural harbours of the Mediterranean, the Milos Gulf. To the left, you can see the edge of the one "branch" of Milos, the Vani Cape. Camera: Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III 8 miles to the south of Ierapetra (Lasithi prefecture, Crete island) , there is a small, uninhabited exotic island, a small paradisi called Chrissi (golden) island, or Gaidouronisi (Donkey island). The inhabitants of Ierapetra, simply call it "The island". It is a protected area because there is a Lebanese cedar forest, unique in Europe. The golden beaches of the island have been created by billions of white shells. 2-3 ships depart daily in the morning, from Ierapetra and they return in the afternoon. Camping is prohibited, but you will always see some campers there (usually locals) staying from a few days to some months! No signs of "civilization" there, no electricity, no houses or hotels just 2 t...

Many changes were made in the Olympic Complex or Center of Athens for the Olympic Games of 2004, many additions designed by famous Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava.
