This was a picture I took at this year's Appleby Horse Fair in Appleby Westmoreland, where Gypsies come to show off their horses and sell them. There is a long Country lane where they parade and put their horses through their paces, it's called Flash Lane. I changed the background as it was a bit messy using Photoshop CC and Topaz studio and my own textures.

The Appleby Horse Fair, also known as Appleby New Fair, is "an annual gathering of Gypsies and Travellers in the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria, England." The horse fair is held each year in early June, attracting roughly 10,000 people and about 1,000 caravans.

Photographed at The Appleby Horse Fair where Gypsies gather annually to buy and sell their horses. This lovely Irish Cob or Gypsy cob and her delightful foal were tethered outside some of the caravans. I never found out if they got sold or not, I just hope wherever they ended up they were well looked after. I edited this in Photoshop cc and Topaz Remask and added three of my own textures.

Every year for over 100 years there is a Gypsy Horse Fair in Appleby, in the Lake District of England. It is attended by about 10,000 Gypsies and many more visitors and lasts for about a week. There is a big Campsite with caravans and a lot of Gypsy vardoes and many stores selling all sorts of things. Horses are bought and sold and part of the tradition is to take them down to the River Eden and wash them, so that they are in their best condition for selling. Another shot from last years Gypsy Horse Fair at Appleby, where the Gypsies take their horses and show them off, trotting on Flash Lane, with a view to selling them on. This was a lovely Gypsy Cob and I loved it's mane and fetlocks as it galloped down the lane. I have added a few textures and blended the image in Topaz and photoshop.

This lovely gypsy horse was captured at Appleby Horse Fair, it was tied to a post alongside some caravans and I felt a bit sorry for it, not that it was being ill treated or anything like that. I think that the thought of it being sold on to someone unknown was quite sad and that the horse's expression was also a little mournful. I hope it went to a good home. I added the mist to suit the mood.
