Helm Tapestries
Description: The Helm of Awe - also Aegishjalmur, the Icelandic Magical Sun - is one of the most mysterious and powerful symbols of northern mythology. The Viking people wore the magical symbol on the inside of their combat helmet or between their eyes for protection in battle. It thus symbolizes the strength and invincibility of warriors.
Description: Helm of Awe (Old Norse Ægishjálmr) is a divine Norse symbol of victory and protection. Several sagas (including Galdrabók) mention that it was being used not only by the Viking warriors but even the dragons (sounds really hard to believe, right?!). Nevertheless, Volsunga says that Sigurd took it after killing the dragon Fafnir.
