Help Keep California Tapestries
Description: California has a long history of being a leader in environmental stewardship and promoted protecting nature through a variety of campaigns going back decades. In 1965, the California Division of Forestry was concerned about the growing number of wildfires started by kids, and began to target children through educational materials, teacher kits, fire prevention promotional items, and more. To help with the cause, they had a couple of cartoon spokespeople created - 'Sniff and Snuff, the Super Fire-Safe Snoopers.' Sniff and Snuff were added to printed materials as well as staring in animated PSA's that ran amidst blocks of cartoons and other children's programming to teach children the importance of fire safety and the dangers of forest fires.
